Over the course of a month in Tanzania, I was able to spend a few weeks working at the Mehayo Centre for Disabled Children in Morogoro.
I was there with a nonprofit that supports the centre financially to document the lives of the people living there.
Having spent a longer amount of time there, I was able to get close to the residents, some of whom will spend their entire lives there, and photograph their day to day lives.
Many of the children and adults living there remain undiagnosed due to lack of proper medical care and supervision so the staff does the best they can to work with each resident without the assistance of doctors or medication.
I'm struck with gratitude every time I think about the time I spent with these amazing people and the impact they had on my view of the world.
