The Lights of Paris

We arrived in Paris eight hours later than original flight time due to numerous delays on American Airlines.

After dropping our things in our apartment, we decided to walk over the world and see the pyramid at night

There is but one Paris and however hard living may be here, and if it became worse and harder even — the French air clears up the brain and does good — a world of good.
— Vincent Van Gogh

This morning we headed out into our neighborhood to find coffee and breakfast

“I head in the direction of the Eiffel Tower when I exit the alley, relieved to be out of the dark.”
— Ashley Earley

We ventured out to the Chateau de Versailles this morning and found the line to tour the palace to be an intimidating meandering line of people waiting hours to simply enter so we decided to forego the palace and tour the gardens instead.  When the guidebook suggested that Versailles be avoided on Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays it was joking. The massive crowds were everyone.  It was also a beautiful sunny day that I'm sure brought out everyone imaginable.

The idea is not to please the most amount of people. Growing up in Versailles, the idea was to please the least amount of people.

While there certainly are the joys of being able to share Paris my two teenage daughters, it has certainly required more flexibility with them and their lack of desire to venture out into the city as much as I would like.   It's been a blessing to take this trip with them but I'm reminded that they need downtime after the stimulus of a big city.

Paris
I love you
You are everything I thought and more
You embody everything that I want in a city
Culture
History
Fashion
Art
But above all,
Beauty
Paris, you are beautiful
Thank you for taking me in and making me feel it too....

Wondering around the Eiffel Tower for the afternoon, we found ourselves lounging around the grass amongst many tourists and Parisians.  It was entertaining to see people picnicking and couples spending quality time together.

We stayed in a beautiful Airbnb Penthouse that overlooked the Louvre fro m the street window.  It was definitely worth the stay...
